I’m Claire L. Fishback, award-nominated author of supernatural suspense, horror, and more-er! Below is more about me and where I’ve appeared out in the wild!

I have loved writing since I penned my first short story at the age of six. It was about a squirrel (or squorl as I spelled it then) and a chipmunk who were pen pals. I was inspired by The Jolly Postman.
In the sixth grade, I wanted to scare my teacher. Inspired by the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark books by Alvin Schwartz, I wrote creepy tales in my daily “reflections” journal. I believe the first one was called, “Linda’s New Pet.” My teacher’s name was Linda. My plan to scare her backfired. She loved the stories!
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, which I obtained in order to learn more about the human condition. Because of this, my characters are three-dimensional, flawed, and worth rooting for.
My short stories are mainly horror, and also contain anything from twisty, whimsical, fantastical, to just straight strange. There is typically a touch of comedy. The stories that are not horror, per se, will evoke other emotions like bittersweet happiness, sadness, and curiosity.
The Origin Codex novels blend my love of the supernatural with fast-paced plots. In 2007 I found the Nag Hammadi library while doing some research on demons and evil deities. The Nag Hammadi library was discovered in Egypt in 1945. This library of sorts was a collection of religious texts. Being a metaphorical heathen, I have always found religion fascinating.

I write what I love to read. Future releases may stray from the supernatural suspense model of the Origin Codex series. My promise to you, dear reader, is an emotional roller coaster full of twists, turns, surprises, authentic characters, an exploration of the gray area between good and evil, and often something weird.
When I’m not writing, I enjoy spending time with my little family (my husband and our pit bull mix, Kira), reading, drawing, hiking, baking, playing the ukulele, adding to my bone collection, and poking dead things with sticks.
